1974 Z1

This bike has been stored in my friend’s living room in Colorado since 1995. Prior to that it was a one owner California bike. He recently went through a divorce and I purchased his collection of several vintage motorcycles. When I received this bike, the fluids had been drained and it was in proper long term storage. After receiving the bike, I removed the carbs and found them in great condition. I cleaned them and installed a new battery and oil and the bike started immediately. Synchronizing the carbs produced a very smooth idle. The engine does not smoke nor does it leak oil. There are no abnormal noises. Other than minor adjustments, the only other work I did was sending the meters to Bob at Z-Resto to have them restored. They worked properly but the speedometer appeared to have had something dropped on top of it creating a small dent in the housing. I took before and after pictures of the meters to qualify the mileage. The gas tank also had a flaw in the clear coat and I had my painter wet sand and clear coat the tank. The tank looks great. I have now driven this bike several times for a total of about 200 miles. Everything works great. It runs, sounds and drives like a new bike. All the lights work properly. None of the gaskets appear to be leaking. All the finishes are in good to excellent condition. There is no rust on the original exhaust but it does have the very common battery acid stains on the left side. The exhaust is in very good condition but not perfect. Along the way it appears to have been bumped, most likely while being moved. There is no road rash evident anywhere on the bike. The bike has the original black foam seat on it and there are no tears. The original owner manual is in the tail tray.

This is one of the nicest driving Z1 bikes I have had in some time and I have had many. If you are a serious buyer I would invite you to call me and I will go in to as much detail as you wish regarding the condition of the bike. While not a 100 point show bike, it looks very nice and the mechanical condition seems great.
